Most men are trying to lead their families while dragging around pain they’ve never dealt with.

You go to work.

You show up for your wife and kids.

You try to be the man they can rely on.

But underneath all of it, you’re carrying weight that doesn’t belong to them.

It belongs to the boy you used to be.

Maybe your father wasn’t there.

Maybe he was cold. Harsh. Silent.

Maybe he never said, “I’m proud of you.”

And now, without even realizing it, you’re walking through life with that same gap in your chest.

You call it drive. You call it work ethic.

But deep down, you’re still trying to prove something to a man who might never say it back.

I share this with you because I’ve lived it.

I know what it feels like to try and lead a family, run a business, and hold everything together…while quietly carrying a father wound no one can see.

It doesn’t show up on the surface.

But it leaks.

It leaks into your tone when you’re stressed.

It shows up in how you react when things feel out of control.

It’s in the silence between you and your son when you want to connect, but don’t know how.

The truth is, most men were never shown how to lead.

We were thrown into life and told to figure it out.

And we did.

But there comes a point in every man’s life where you stop trying to outrun your past and start owning your future.

This is that moment.

You’re ready to stop carrying what doesn’t serve you.

You’re ready to lead from clarity, not chaos.

And you’re ready to become the man your son already believes you are.

There was a point early on when I was building Fit Body Boot Camp where I had everything dialed in on paper.

From the outside looking in I had:

Record sales.

The right team.

Marketing that worked.

But behind the scenes?

I was short-tempered.

Reactive.

Stretched thin.

Saying yes to too much, leading like a firefighter instead of a CEO.

Constantly putting out fires, reacting to chaos, and never having the space to scale.

In fact, I can remember several times where I had cash flow problems, employees quit on me and I felt like I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The business plan doesn’t matter if the businessman isn’t dialed in.
