Someone recently asked me on a coaching call:
“How do you know if your business idea is worth pursuing?”
From experience, I can tell you that question keeps countless entrepreneurs awake at night.
You’ve got a vision, but the fear of pouring time, money, and effort into something that might flop is real.
I get it and I’ve been there. I borrowed $126,000 from my first mentor Jim Franco to build a software company before I’d proven a single person would pay for it.
The stakes feel high because they are.
But look, the only difference between a successful entrepreneur and one who never gets their idea off the ground is clarity and execution.
And the only way to have both starts with one fundamental step:
Proving the market.
Here’s the exact framework I wish somebody had handed me back then.
The first thing I tell anyone wondering if their idea has a market is this…
Look for competition.
If someone else is already doing what you’re planning, that’s not a reason to back off. It’s a sign to double down.
Competition means demand. People are already pulling out their credit cards for something like what you’re thinking of, so instead of seeing the guy down the street as a problem, see him as proof that your idea has legs.
He validated the market for you.
But don’t stop there.
The next step is to identify the problem your idea solves and ask yourself two questions:
- Is this a problem a lot of people are dealing with?
- Are they motivated to fix it, as in they’d actually pay to make it go away?
If the answer to both is yes, you’re already on solid ground. Now it’s time to figure out what makes your solution stand out.
Maybe your product is faster, simpler, or built for one specific type of customer. Maybe it’s better service, a feature nobody else has, or results the other guys can’t match.
Differentiation is where you carve out your lane in the market.
Your job isn’t to reinvent the wheel. It’s to make the wheel better.
And the way you do that is by understanding your audience better than your competitors do. Talk to your potential customers, find out what p!sses them off about the options they’ve already tried, and figure out where you can deliver more.
Then test it, refine it, and execute with precision.
This is exactly how I’ve built every business in my portfolio, Fit Body Boot Camp included.
When you understand your market better than they understand themselves and you execute with precision…
…that’s when you become unstoppable.
I share this with you because proving the market is step one, and it’s the step most people skip. But step two is where the money actually gets made: turning a validated idea into an offer so obviously better that people feel stupid saying no to it.
That’s why I’m hosting a live Zoom masterclass on Tuesday, September 8th at 5:00 PM PST, along with the other four moves that are running in my companies right now. It’s 90 minutes, it’s live, and I’m answering questions the whole way through.
The opportunity is right in front of you.
Now it’s time to show up and dominate.
Rooting for you,
Bedros Keuilian
P.S. I’m capping the room at 100 people because it’s live and I want to answer every question that comes in. Once those seats are gone, they’re gone.
