Years ago I achieved a huge milestone and purchased a beautiful two-story building with big office space.
It was going to serve as the new Fit Body Boot Camp HQ.
I envisioned a HUGE Fit Body Boot Camp sign on top of the building that would welcome every new franchisee, a location to host masterminds for our current franchisees, and a place to fly out my coaching clients.
I was on Cloud9 – until my beautiful wife Diana brought me back to reality.
“You know, it may not be a good look welcoming your franchisees and coaching clients with a great view of the Chino State Prison.”
And just like that, I got brought down to earth faster than a deflated balloon.
Regardless of my oversight, I had signed the lease on the building and negotiated a killer deal so I decided to keep the building and convert it into my badass personal gym.
And the great view? I use it as a reminder every day.
A reminder that freedom isn’t just about physically walking free – it’s a state of mind.
This is because…
There are some people who walk free but are still more shackled than those men behind bars.
They are a prisoner of their own mind, shackled by inaction and limiting beliefs.
A slow poison that feeds regret, fuels anxiety, and creates depression.
Leaving you always wanting to do and be more but never taking the steps to achieve it…
…turning you into a prisoner in your own life.
These are the individuals that are undisciplined in their time, actions, and habits.
Always wondering why their mediocre life is just that – mediocre.
Blaming their circumstances, the government, and others for their ‘misfortunes’ in life.
But what most people fail to realize is…
You hold the key to your shackles. And that key is discipline.
Disciplined people are in control of their lives, their future, and their destiny.
Discipline is freedom and the road to breaking free from those mental chains holding you back.
It’s about showing up, doing the work, and pushing past your comfort zone.
It’s about making the tough choices that lead to growth, even when it’s easier to settle for mediocrity.
And it’s about understanding that real success isn’t about avoiding failure, but learning from it and coming back stronger.
This is the kind of discipline we lay the foundation on Battle Ready and forge at the MDK Project.
Because at the end of the day…we all deserve to be free.
Free from self-doubt, free from regret, and free from the fear that holds us back from becoming the best versions of ourselves.
P.S. Remember, the shackles holding you back are only as strong as you allow them to be.
