HOW TO SCALE YOUR BIZ WITH LSD

One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is trying to do everything themselves.

From experience, it will hold back your growth massively.

When I first started running a business, I thought I could do it all!

I wanted to be Head of Sales, Finance Manager, Operations Manager, and even the guy who delivered the product or service to the customer.

I soon realized that while I was spending time reconciling my accounts or calling suppliers, I was losing money because I wasn’t spending time SELLING…

…which at the time was the biggest needle mover in the business.

I needed to focus on the 5% of activities that truly moved the needle in my business and then build a team around me to handle the other 95%.

Doing this freed me up to work on the highest-leverage tasks that grew the business way faster than before.

Now here’s what I’ve learned after building and investing in a dozen companies…

…that 5% is almost always the same three things.

LEADERSHIP. SALES. DEVELOPMENT.

That’s your LSD. And it’s the only thing that should be getting the majority of your calendar.

Leadership is casting the vision, setting the standard, and making sure the people running your departments know exactly what winning looks like. Nobody can do this for you. Your team will never care more about the mission than the person leading it.

Sales is revenue. Whether that’s you on the phone, you building the offer, or you training the team that sells it, this is the oxygen. Every business I’ve ever seen stall out had an owner who quietly stopped touching sales.

Development is two things. Developing your people so they can take work off your plate, and developing yourself so you’re always the most valuable asset in the building. The day you stop growing is the day your business stops growing.

Everything outside of LSD is the 95%. And the 95% belongs to your team.

To figure out what your specific 5% looks like inside those three buckets, ask yourself, “What are my main strengths? Where do I need to spend the majority of my time to have the biggest impact on the business?”

Feel free to do this exercise right now or copy and paste it to your notes.

It can take 7-15 minutes to do and by doing this, you will have figured out which levers to pull inside your business that’ll take your success and revenue to the next level.

Now if it’s challenging to identify what your REAL 5% is, try tracking everything you do in your day-to-day schedule.

When you do this, you’ll see which tasks on your list really move the needle for you and your business.

Once you figure out which tasks you can only do, delegate the rest to your team.

This one little tip has helped my Scale Syndicate members realize they haven’t been fully focusing on their 5%.

It often leads to the realization you’re not tightly focused enough on your LSD.

Try it out, and I’d love to hear about any breakthroughs you have.

Plus, the more you scale your business, the smaller your 5% gets.

But that 5% can create hockey-stick growth in your business.

It’s time to dominate your industry!
