It’s inevitable to face some resistance when you’re on a journey of personal transformation and growth.
And I’m not talking about inner resistance.
I’m talking about the resistance you’ll feel from your close friends, family members, or coworkers.
For most people, this resistance is what really holds you back because they make comments like:
“Why aren’t you drinking? You’re not fun anymore.”
“Why do you work so much?”
“I don’t know why you’re trying, you’ve failed before.”
It’s because of these comments from your inner circle, your inner growth is handicapped.
The worst part about this handicap is that they’re not yours.
They are your friends and family who are scared to become that 2.0 version of themselves.
And when you become that, they’ll see how they’ve been slacking.
So you can’t let their negativity and criticism get under your skin and make you doubt yourself.
Because at the end of the day, the only person who can truly hold you back is yourself.
Look, I get it – it’s not easy.
It’s uncomfortable and scary when you start setting higher standards for yourself.
In fact, one of the ways we help men at The MDK Project defeat their old identity is by destroying the limiting beliefs and overcoming past traumas that have kept them handicapped and playing small.
Building their new identity, and the 2.0 version of themselves, in the process.
And don’t get me wrong…
Not everyone around you is trying to bring you down.
There will be some people who will be supportive and cheer you on.
Those individuals are your tribe – hold onto those people like gems.
Just like how you are part of my tribe.
Keep pushing forward, even in the face of resistance.
Don’t let others’ limiting beliefs hold you back.
Believe in yourself, set those high standards, and go after the 2.0 version of yourself.
