In the Bible, it says it’s better to go to the house of mourning than the house of feasting.
Why? Because it makes you think more seriously about the big picture of life and your role in it.
The big picture of life is that we all have the same destiny.
We die.
I was reminded of this a couple weeks ago while visiting Miami…
While on my morning walk in Miami I took a detour through a cemetery.
In this cemetery, big, small, artistic, and simple headstones were placed everywhere.
I didn’t come to this cemetery to pay my respect to anyone.
To be frank, I didn’t know anyone. I was just compelled to walk into the cemetery for some reason and so I did.
I was surrounded by the dead.
I didn’t know what kind of car they drove, the home they lived in, or the possessions they had.
I didn’t know if they were millionaires or if they were grinding it out day to day just to make ends meet.
And I didn’t know if they had an easy or hard life before they died.
But I did know ONE thing…
They had no more problems.
Why? Because they’re dead.
And when you’re dead every day is pretty much the same.
So when I hear people bitch and complain about having problems, I say good. Because that’s a sign of life.
You see, life is about solving and learning from problems.
It’s a part of the human experience.
From the day we’re born to the day we die, we’re faced with problems big and small…
…we’re faced with simple and complex problems to solve.
We’re designed to be problem solvers.
Now here’s the BIG takeaway I want you to walk away with, if you’re alive, stop acting like you’re dead.
Stop wishing to have no problems.
Every problem and adversity you face is a seed for greater opportunity… if you’re willing to step up and solve it.
So congratulations! If you have problems right now, it means you’re alive.
Solve them.
Be grateful for them.
Because only dead people have no problems.
