A few weeks ago, I hit a major milestone.
I officially coached my 400th entrepreneur one-on-one.
Over 17 years I’ve worked with entrepreneurs from every walk of life.
Navy SEALs, athletes, doctors, beauty professionals, coaches, real estate investors, supplement brands…hell, even a guy who built a trucking company from one rig to fifteen.
17 years of coaching at the highest level taught me a lot about success.
But more importantly, it taught me what kills it.
To mark the milestone…
HERE ARE THE 10 HARD TRUTHS OF BUSINESS:
1) TIME UNDER TENSION
Entrepreneurial muscles are built like regular muscles – under load & over time.
Understand that the moment you start doing the work, there’s a lot of sh!t that gets in the way.
But you only get better as an entrepreneur under time. You get better at decision-making. Better instincts. Better at hiring. Better at marketing. Better at understanding your customers’ needs and wants.
Time under tension matters most.
2) PAIN PRODUCES PROGRESS
Whether it’s marketing, sales, operations, leadership, or communication, all of those are places where you will experience pain. Failed campaigns, ad costs rising, key players leaving, etc.
But understand that pain produces progress.
Without frustration, failures, and problems, you will not develop the mental and emotional muscles you need to carry through to the next level of success.
Study the failure. Adjust the inputs, your offer, audience, angle, follow-up, and get back under load.
The entrepreneurs who grow are the ones who keep learning through discomfort.
3) YOUR BELIEFS ARE YOUR CEILING
85% of entrepreneurs out there are breaking even or always in debt. If you want to be part of that sea of entrepreneurs who are barely getting by or losing money every month, then DO NOT upgrade your identity.
But I’m telling you right now that your belief system is the ceiling to success.
Whatever belief systems you have determine the ceiling of success you’ll have.
The sooner you upgrade your beliefs and identity, the faster you upgrade your business.
4) INFORMATION IS CHEAP. EXECUTION IS RARE.
We live in a world where you have access to everything.
You want to learn how to run Facebook ads? Go to YouTube, lock in for 3-4 hours, and develop the skillset to be a damn near world-class marketer.
You want to be a better copywriter, better salesperson, better leader? You can understand the concepts pretty easily now just by having internet access.
Information these days is either free or next to free. That’s why I say information is cheap.
It’s the execution that’s rare. More than ever, people are not out there executing. They’re like Thanos collecting infinity stones (or skills) and waiting for the ‘perfect moment’ to snap their fingers and take action.
I’d rather you know less, focus on learning one thing, and then execute the hell out of it.
5) YOU’LL BE JUDGED NO MATTER WHAT
You’ll be judged as greedy when you’re successful.
You’ll be judged as ‘unbalanced’.
They’ll say you think you’re better than everyone else.
But if you do nothing and stay average?
You’ll be judged for being lazy.
You’ll be judged for not providing for your family.
They’ll say you’re wasting your life.
Either way in life, you’re going to be judged.
So if we know we’re going to be judged, F*CK EM’! You might as well go out and win.
Spend zero minutes convincing haters and spend all your minutes building something your family will benefit from for generations.
6) SUCCESS REQUIRES OBSESSIONS
Social media has made us think success is waking up in the morning, getting a bowl of water, pouring some Saratoga in there, throwing some ice cubes in, and dipping your face in it.
The truth is you’re just going to kill a lot of time that way.
If you want to win and dominate in business, you’re going to have to stay obsessed.
The way we win is by doing the work on the thing that produce money and get people the solution they’re looking for in their life.
If you’re not going to be obsessed on doing that work for a prolonged period of time every day for years…entrepreneurship is not going to be in your cards.
So save the Saratoga water and win by doing the work that produces revenue and delivers solutions.
Obsess now so later you can buy back your time.
7) LEADERSHIP DETERMINES YOUR LIMITS
John Maxwell once said, “Leadership is the lid.”
Meaning sh!tty leaders end up literally ruining businesses that have 8-figure, 9-figure potential.
If you lack leadership in terms of vision, hiring, delegation, inspection, and communication, your business will only grow to the limit of your leadership.
Once you develop the ability to lead, you will hire much more qualified people and your business will grow.
8) DECISIVENESS TRUMPS DOUBT
The shorter the time between when you make a decision and when you execute…
…the more successful you’ll likely be.
The more you can time-collapse that gap, the more decisive you become, and the more successful you become as an entrepreneur.
Shorten the distance from decision to deployment. You will not have 100% certainty, but move anyway.
If you’re wrong, learn from it and pivot fast.
9) ONLY RESULTS MATTER
Effort doesn’t pay the bills, results do.
Too many people mistake motion for progress.
They talk about how much time they’ve put in, how many meetings they’ve had, and how late they’ve been working.
That’s nice…but where are the outcomes?
As an entrepreneur, leader, or team member, you don’t get rewarded for trying. You get rewarded for producing.
If you get assigned a task or delegate a task with a deadline, it’s not optional.
“We tried” sounds comforting. But in business, it’s just another way to say, “We didn’t execute.”
10) IT TAKES AT LEAST A DECADE
Everyone on social media wants to sell you the fantasy of “six figures in six months.”
If your goal is just to replace your job and make a couple of hundred grand a year…sure you can get there fast with the right skill set and execution.
But if you want to build a business that prints money while you sleep, creates jobs, and gives you freedom, you’re signing up for a decade of work.
Ten years of early mornings, late nights, weekends, and doing it again the next day.
Ten years of systems, people, and leadership layers that eventually let you step back and watch the machine run.
That’s how you build generational wealth and real freedom.
If that level of commitment offends you, get a job.
But if you can understand these truths, you’ll be able to scale faster, make more money, lead stronger teams, and build freedom in business and life.
And if you’re ready to apply them…
Maybe it’s time to sit down with me in person 1:1 for a half-day coaching session.
