There was a time when Fit Body Boot Camp almost crashed and burned.
I could have easily pointed the finger at my clients, the economy, or the government as to why it was on the verge of bankruptcy.
But the reason we were about to go under was because of me.
I was a terrible leader who was terrible at communication and avoided conflict like the plague.
It was so bad I had 3 employees quit on the same day (that was nearly half my staff).
Now on May 18th (today), things are completely different.
What was once an uninspiring and stagnant workplace is now a purpose-driven and thriving workplace.
They’re different because I discovered the 3 levels of leadership that you can use to develop yourself into a truly great leader.
Level 1: Self-Leadership
The foundation of leadership is self-leadership. If you can’t lead yourself effectively, how the hell can you expect to lead others? It starts with living by the same expectations you have for others: waking up early, working out, and being punctual. When you embody these traits, you’ll gain the respect of those around you.
Level 2: Leading Others
Leading others involves having a clear vision and being decisive. If you’re an indecisive leader, your team will lose respect and might even leave you for a better opportunity. In order to lead others effectively, communicate clearly, empower them, identify their strength, and recognize your high performers.
Level 3: Building Leaders
The third level of leadership is empowering your leaders to build other leaders. When your leaders are able to effectively develop other leaders you’ll be surprised just how fast your company will grow.
Make no mistake when you reach level 3, you will have some leaders within your business leave to start their own company.
But it’s a sign of true leadership when your team members develop their skills and want to start their own companies.
Remember, it’s all about leading yourself first, then leading others, and ultimately ensuring your leaders can build other leaders.
