The other night I finally had a rare evening to myself.
Between running multiple businesses, podcast interviews, and personal commitments, these moments are few and far between.
So I did what I’ve loved since I was a kid – I watched Rocky IV.
Growing up, boxing was one of the few things my dad and I loved to watch.
In case you’ve never seen it, Rocky Balboa trains to fight Ivan Drago in a boxing match.
A giant Russian man who is essentially chemically engineered in a lab and equipped with every modern resource imaginable.
But in the movie, Rocky doesn’t have any of that.
He doesn’t have access to fancy gyms, cutting-edge technology, or state-of-the-art equipment.
Instead, the man chops wood, lifts rocks, and runs through snow-covered mountains.
But when that final bell rings…
Outgunned. Outsized. Every advantage stacked against him.
Rocky wins.
I share this with you because this is where most men get it wrong…
Rocky didn’t win because he had superior genetics, a full team behind him, or unlimited resources.
He won because of sheer willpower, discipline, and relentless grit.
He made the most of the tools he had and kicked Dragos ass.
Too many guys out there think their problem is a lack of external resources.
They blame their struggles on not having enough money, time, or opportunities.
But the truth is most men just need to be resourceful with what they already have.
Look, if you’re waiting around for the perfect moment when you finally have enough money, enough free time, or the right connections I hate to break it to you but you’re gonna stay stuck exactly where you are.
You don’t lack external resources. You lack internal resources.
You lack internal discipline, relentless action, and laser-focused commitment.
I see this pattern with entrepreneurs all the time.
They’re constantly chasing the next strategy, the next tool, the next “silver bullet” that will magically solve all their problems.
But the guys who actually win are the ones who double down on the fundamentals:
- They make fast decisions and stick to them
- They execute relentlessly, even when motivation fades
- They build simple systems that create consistent results
At the end of the day, your success isn’t determined by what you have access to…
It’s determined by what you’re willing to do with what you already have.
This mindset shift is exactly what separates the men who level up from the men who stay stuck complaining about their circumstances.
The tools for your breakthrough are already in your hands.
You just need learn to Man Up and use them.
