The UGLY truth

A couple weeks ago we ran and secured class 005 of The Project

I’m really proud of the men went through the 75 hour experience and evolved into better leaders, fathers, husbands and entrepreneurs.

During the graduation dinner one of the men asked me what it’s really like being an entrepreneur for over 20 years.

Truth be told, he caught me off guard…

…and the words that rolled out of my mouth were: “it ain’t all sexy”

Here’s what you need to know about being an entrepreneur I told him…

Most people think that being an entrepreneur is about constant success and freedom.

They envision…

– The $10K or $100,000 days in income.

– 7, 8, and 9 figure bank accounts.

– The freedom to do whatever you want, anywhere you want, for as long as you want.

So I told him the truth of what it’s really like…

Look, over time a very small group of people will make it.

They’ll create wealth, build a competent team, have strong systems and win their freedom.

But most won’t.

Here’s why.

Most people are more interested in acting like an entrepreneur…

So at the first sign of money these people are more obsessed with:

Looking successful…

Flexing in front of their rented sports cars…

–  Snapping pics in their Air BNB Mansions…

Posting about how they’re flying in their timeshare private jets…

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that if you really got it and it’s not rented by the hour, mile or day.

But to become REALLY successful as an entrepreneur you’ve got to put in the REAL work that only a few are willing to put in.

You gotta show up every day – even on the days you just don’t feel like it.

And then embrace the “unsexy” side of the game.

Things like:

– Being a leader and having to make the unpopular decisions.

Guess what? No one wants to do that, but it’s gotta get done.

– Obsessing over marketing, sales and customer retention more than anyone else in your organization.

– Staying disciplined and challenging yourself to grow every day, in every category of life so that you can lead your company to even higher levels of success.

– Being more than willing to look like a “loser” who works around the clock, while your friends are living it up on weekends.

This last one is the most important because this is the trap I see most entrepreneurs fall into when they first start cranking out some “new money”.

The most dangerous thing of all for an entrepreneur is becoming  “new money” rich.

(“new money” rich is money that can afford you payments on a lambo, rent on a nice crib and just enough sizzle and bling to flash on IG… but it’s not real lasting WEALTH, it’s just “new money”  that usually gets wasted on stupid things.)

They fall into the trap of buying things to impress people they don’t like.

First off, don’t be a people pleaser.

We’ve talked about that before.

People pleasing doesn’t look good on anyone.

The way you really impress people is by doing the work and building a reputation as a hard working, generous and humble SOB.

That’s wealth VS new money rich.

P.S. If you want to scale up your income from 6 to 7-figures, but don’t have the $50K to work with me in my 12 month private coaching program then you should come to my one day Mentorship Mastermind next month that’s only a few hundred bucks.

I’ve coached over 1,800 entrepreneurs helping all of them add multiple six figures to their bottom line.

And I’ve helped 37 of them make the leap into multiple 7 and 8 figures. I’d like to help you, too. That’s why I’m having this one day Mentorship Mastermind, so that I can reach and impact more entrepreneurs.
