It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that the more structured your day is, the more you get done.
And the most important part of the day is your mornings. If you can win your mornings, you can win your day. Win your days, you’ll win your weeks. Win your weeks and you’ll win your month. Win your months and you’ll win the year… and so on.
So what does a winning morning routine look like?
- It’s got to keep you productive and focused
- It’s got to be a routine that sets you up to make more money
- It’s got to be something that’s fills you with energy
For years I knew that a morning routine is important to have. However, I never really figured out a good one until about 10 years ago.
Here’s what works for me…
First off your morning routine starts off the night before. Don’t go to bed late, or buzzed or stuffed with food. For me, I go to bed at 10PM so that I can get up at 5:00 AM and dominate my day.
Before I got to bed a do a brain dump onto my notes section of my iPhone – create my morning GSD list (Get Shit Done). These are a list of 3-5 things I need to do in the morning to move my business forward – money drivers. Now that I have a list I can go to bed and know that I’m going to wake up and already have my tasks ready to attack.
When my alarm goes off at 5:00AM I get up. I never hit the snooze button. Losers hit the snooze button and I believe that tells the universe that you prefer a little more low-quality sleep over getting up and keeping your word to yourself and living your life’s purpose.
Once I’m up I drink a big glass of water, turn on the Jack Johnston channel on Spotify because his music puts me into flow state. After I shower I send out three gratitude text message to three people in my life who I’m grateful for then I head to the kitchen and take a TruLean Wellness Shot and make my 40 gram protein shake and head to my favorite corner of the couch to GSD on my list on my laptop. FOCUSED WORK. No bullshitting around!
I keep my phone notifications off and social media closed – NO DISTRACTIONS – unless one of those GSD task lists is to put up a social media post that GENERATES money or leads.
This gives me 3 hours (6AM to 9AM) to get good work done on my money tasks, emails, texts, ect and then I head to the gym for a 9:30 workout and a 3 mile walk outside after. And Then I head to HQ by 12:00 to start the second half of my workday.
This is what winning looks like. This is how you get massive productivity every day. And even on the days that I don’t feel like it, I STILL DO IT! Winning for me is nonnegotiable. It should be for you too.
