A while back, I created a poll across my social media platforms.
The question was simple:
“As a man, would you rather have respect or love from a woman?”
Over 7,000 men responded, and the majority chose respect OVER love.
And honestly – I’m not surprised.
Respect is what makes life easier.
It’s crucial in EVERY relationship – in marriages, with family members, and in business.
And the most crucial relationship you need to respect – yourself.
You see, as men, we measure each other by:
– How we carry ourselves
– How strong and capable we are (physically AND mentally)
– Our ability to protect and provide
– How much money we make
When a man excels in these areas, we immediately respect him more because these values are deeply ingrained in us.
In case you didn’t notice the first 3 out of the 4 are directly related to a man’s physical appearance. And trust me fellas, there is a connection between how much money you make and if you’re physically lean and jacked.
Sure, I can respect a man who loves his family and cares for his community.
But my highest level of respect is given to a man who is strong, capable, financially secure, well-spoken, and able to protect and provide.
So if you’re finding yourself stuck in a rut, unsure of what to do, remember this:
Respect is the key.
Earn it, command it, and above all – have it for yourself.
