Believe it or not, there was a time when I hated coming to Fit Body Boot Camp HQ.
It’s funny how fast our “dream” can transform into our worst “nightmare”.
The reason why Fit Body Boot Camp (FBBC) became a nightmare is because of my employees.
I would avoid them at all costs.
Like:
Entering the back door instead of the front door to not see anyone.
Or leaving a bit early, so I wouldn’t have to do the “see you tomorrow” charade.
I resented EVERYTHING about my business.
Imagine that, a CEO who resents his company and employees.
The cherry on top:
I’d sell FBBC franchises to people daily, and pretty much faked the pleasure of owning a location.
If anyone knew the truth about what was going on, they’d call me a hypocrite.
And they would be 100% right.
Because I was being one.
I would arrive late, leave a little early, and avoid the tough conversations with them. I’d bark orders and lose my patience when things weren’t done correctly.
And my employee would follow suit too.
They’d arrive a little late. Would leave a little early. And did the bare minimum in their work.
Only there to collect a paycheck.
So I was really acting like a boss, not a leader.
But once I began expecting more from myself, not just my employees, everything changed.
By showing up for both myself and my team, they went from just unloyal employees to dedicated team members.
They’d go the extra mile because I’d go double for them.
I share this with you because…
True leaders set the standard.
Far too often, I see this in my Domination Year client.
And usually, it takes us one session to realize their fancy title doesn’t mean they should be doing the least amount of work.
Look, as far as I’m concerned, I’m the last to leave this building, and it’s my truck parked out there, not anyone else’s.
I am the f*cking cleaning crew.
And as someone who has been in this game for multiple decades…
I admire the kind of leader who doesn’t exploit his team members but leads his team from the frontlines – like a real leader.
Because they’re the ones who have the most respect from their team.
And when you have the respect of your team you’re business is usually very successful.
Now you know what it means to be a real leader.
It took me years to discover this but I hope it only takes you days to implement.
Talk soon,
Bedros Keuilian
