FIT BODY BOOT CAMP GOT SHUT DOWN

If you’ve ever heard the saying “what you don’t know won’t hurt you,” you probably think it makes sense.

I share this with you because I learned this the hard way back when Fit Body Boot Camp started to gain traction and skyrocket.

We were selling locations like hotcakes. We had FINALLY cracked the code, and our sales team was on fire.

Every day, it was full throttle – sell more, open more, grow more.

But the thing is…

When you don’t know what you don’t know, it’ll sneak up and punch you in the face.

And that’s exactly what happened.

We were so focused on growth that we missed something critical: 

Following the rules.

You see, at the time, I had a licensing agreement that allowed locations to license the name.

I had put rules in our agreement that made sure our locations weren’t cannibalizing each other’s markets.

HOWEVER, we didn’t even realize we were technically operating a franchise under some strict legal guidelines.

So one day, the Franchise Police shows up, and boom.

All sales had to come to a screeching halt.

But you know what didn’t stop?

The expenses of my HQ. 

Payroll of my employees. 

Bills from the services we used.

We were bleeding money.

That was a gut-check moment and a real lesson in humility for me.

For a while, it was brutal, and I thought I’d have to close up shop.

But now? I look back on it, and it’s one of those battle scars I’m proud of.

Because if it wasn’t for the franchise popo cracking down, Fit Body wouldn’t be the franchise it is now.

MY 6-STEP FRAMEWORK TO AN 8-FIGURE BUSINESS (STEAL THIS)

I’ve been in this entrepreneurial game for over two decades.

And in that time, I’ve built and sold multiple businesses.

They’ve all been in different industries with different models, with each one having different challenges at every turn.

But every single one of them was built on the same foundation.

It took me years to see it and learning through trial and error, losing millions, getting burned by partners I trusted, and plenty of nights wondering what the hell I was doing wrong.

Eventually I nailed it down to 6 steps.

These 6 steps are simple to understand, but not always easy to execute…

…And when you eventually figure it out and start to run all six…

The business stops being something you’re fighting to keep alive and starts being something that starts adding zeros to your bank account.

What took me years to figure out, I hope takes you two minutes to read.

MY 6-STEP FRAMEWORK FOR BUILDING A BUSINESS THAT LASTS:

STEP 1: SOLVE REAL PROBLEMS

Your business only exists if it solves a problem people will pay to fix.

Trulean is a good example. When the ‘Wuhan flu’ hit and everything was shutting down, there was nothing clean, quality, or effective on the wellness market. 

Everything was either garbage or gimmicky. So we built a wellness shot with quality ingredients, and it sold like gangbusters.

With Fit Body Boot Camp, people wanted the results of personal training but couldn’t afford one-on-one coaching. So we created 30-minute group sessions at a fraction of the cost. 

Find the problem first. Build around that, not around what you think is cool or trendy.

STEP 2: STAND OUT

Once you’ve got the solution, the question becomes: why you?

What makes you different from everyone else solving the same problem?

For Few Will Hunt, it was the message – ‘Everyone wants to eat but FEW WILL HUNT’.

People want the gear and a brand built around people who refuse to be average. 

Find your edge and own it completely. Stop trying to appeal to everyone.

When you’re clear on what makes you different, the right clients or customers don’t shop around – they just choose you.

STEP 3: MASTER MARKETING

A great product sitting in the dark is just an expensive hobby.

Marketing finds the people who want to buy what you built.

With Fit Body Boot Camp, we used the community, member results, and transformation stories. 

Trulean has a killer ad strategy and backend email funnel to keep LTV high. 

Few Will Hunt built through sponsored athletes and partnerships that put the brand in front of the right people.

My coaching business grew through content, speaking, and showing up consistently with value before ever asking for anything.

Get your message in front of the right people and use social proof of people who got results and can vouch for what you do.

Marketing isn’t about being everywhere but being undeniable where it counts.

STEP 4: REINVEST FOR GROWTH

Every business I’ve built, I’ve poured profit back into.

Investing in A-players in my companies, finding better tools, and creating better systems. And most importantly, investing in myself through mentors, masterminds, events, and books.

Your business can only grow as fast as you do. I’ve put serious money into my team and my own development because I know that what comes back is always more than what went in.

STEP 5: BUILD SYSTEMS

Fit Body Boot Camp laid the groundwork for every SOP I’ve ever used.

When we built that business, we had to document everything…

Onboarding, training, operations, and the customer experience. Those systems became the blueprint I’ve carried into every business since.

Systems are what let you stop being the bottleneck. They’re what let you hand things off, scale without chaos, and actually lead instead of just hustle.

Document your workflows and automate what slows you down so that you can build something without always needing to be there.

STEP 6: PLAY THE LONG GAME

I’ve been in this game for over two decades.

Think about what that compounds into.

The businesses that are still standing are the ones built on real relationships, real integrity, and a reason for existing beyond just making money. Every decision you make should be moving you toward that.

Revenue is the score. But the mission is what keeps you in the game long enough to win.

THE ONE THING MORE REWARDING THAN BUILDING BUSINESSES

In my 51 years of life, I’m proud of many things I’ve created and accomplished.

I’ve built multiple 8 and 9-figure companies. I’ve helped thousands of entrepreneurs scale their businesses. I’ve spoken on stages around the world.

But my proudest accomplishment? Being a great father to my two kids.

Make no mistake about it – parenting is tougher than any business I’ve ever scaled.

But it’s also the most rewarding job I’ll ever do.

And I figured out early that being a great Dad has nothing to do with being your son’s best friend or giving him tons of “stuff.”

Material things don’t matter.

What matters is teaching him the lessons that turn boys into men.

I share this with you because most fathers don’t know what to teach their sons. They think if they’re just “present” and “supportive,” that’s enough.

It’s not.

Your son doesn’t need a dad who is soft or harsh.

He needs a dad who is calm, strong, consistent, present – and shows him what a formidable man looks like.

HERE ARE THE 5 LESSONS I’VE LEARNED THAT SEPARATE BOYS WHO BECOME GOOD MEN FROM BOYS WHO STAY LOST:

  1. STRUCTURE COMES BEFORE FREEDOM

A boy doesn’t need self-expression first. He needs structure.

Teach him to wake up on time. Keep his room clean. Finish what he starts.

Freedom without structure produces chaos. And chaos produces weak men.

  1. COMPETENCE BUILDS CONFIDENCE

Confidence isn’t a gift you give your son. It’s a byproduct of doing hard things.

Praise effort, not identity. Let him struggle without rescuing him.

A boy who can do hard things doesn’t need constant reassurance.

  1. STRENGTH IS A MORAL OBLIGATION

A dangerous man who tempers his anger is safer than a weak man pretending to be kind.

Teach your son how to lift. Play sports. Train in combatives.

Show him that aggression must be channeled and controlled – not suppressed.

  1. RESPONSIBILITY IS THE CURE FOR AIMLESSNESS

Boys need weight on their shoulders.

Weekly chores. Consequences for their actions. People or tasks that depend on him.

Nothing matures a boy faster than having responsibility and being needed.

Purpose is found where responsibility is accepted.

  1. YOUR EXAMPLE MATTERS MORE THAN YOUR WORDS

Your son is not listening to what you say. He’s watching who you are.

How you treat his mother. 

How you handle anger. 

How you show up when things get hard.

Dad, you can’t outsource this. You’re the curriculum.

Years from now, your son will talk about you to his kids.

What will he say?

He won’t remember the expensive Christmas gifts or how much you spent on vacations.

He’ll remember how you showed up. How you taught him to be a man. 

How you built him into someone who can stand alone, protect others, accept responsibility, act with restraint, and endure hardship without bitterness.

That’s what turns boys into good men.

Men who become assets to their families, their communities, and themselves.

This is your job, Dad. Not the school system’s. Not society’s. Yours.

And in case no one told you, you’re doing a great job.

THE DUMBEST $1.1 MILLION DOLLARS I EVER SPENT

A few years ago I achieved a huge milestone and purchased a beautiful two-story building with big office space.

It was going to serve as the new Fit Body Boot Camp HQ.

The only problem was it was across the street from the Chino State Prison.

Not a good look when welcoming new franchise partners or my coaching clients come to visit.

I know this because I was once in your shoes. The year was 2002 and I was making $150K a year as the regional manager for a personal training company.

HOW TO GET A 30% RAISE IN YOUR BUSINESS

I remember when I was a personal trainer at LA Fitness making $12.50 an hour.

I’d train clients back-to-back, sometimes 10-12 sessions a day. I was grinding my ass off.

But there was a cap. 

I could only train so many people because I could only work so many hours.

So I stayed stuck. Working harder and making around the same money.

Until I figured out a different approach.

I share this with you because adding a 30% increase to your business doesn’t require working more hours or gambling with your pricing.

You make small, strategic tweaks in 3 specific areas. Each tweak adds 10%. 

Together, they compound into a 30% raise.

Here’s how it works.

There are 3 main levers you can pull inside your business to maximize profits. 

Those are:

  • Lead quality
  • Close rate
  • Price

So with this in mind, all you need to do is get 10% better in these 3 areas to add 30% more profits to your business.

LEVER 1 – LEAD QUALITY (10% better leads)

If you want to attract better leads then tweak your messaging, your offer, and where you’re marketing. 

Find a better hook for your ads, tighten up your copy, and sharpen your offer to boost your marketing efforts by 10%.

The right clients won’t blink. The wrong clients (the ones who were going to quit anyway) will filter themselves out.

So if you get 10% more out of your lead quality, 10% better in your close rate, and charge 10% more…

BAM!

You got yourself a 30% increase! In profits, NOT just revenue.

In fact, I use this exact playbook with my coaching clients. And it works like gangbusters for my Domination Year Healthcare clients. A lot of them focus on just one of these tweaks and almost always see an immediate increase in profit.

It’s simple to understand if you know which levers inside your business to focus on. But it’s not always easy to implement on your own.

The problem I see that entrepreneurs make is that they ONLY focus on one area, and that’s usually marketing.

Look, it’s nearly impossible to get a 30% bump in marketing alone. But you can get a 10% bump in lead quality, sales conversion, and price point.

Here’s what to do next…

Pick one of the 3 areas and attack it until you get your 10% increase. And then do the same for the other two areas until you hit the 30% increase.

THE $100,000 EMAIL

I was prepping for an in-person meeting with one of my $100K Domination Year clients earlier today.

Now, before we get into the War Room (that’s what I call the conference room at HQ), I always send a voice note, text, or email asking them to set their goals for the session.

Why? Because by the time we’re done, the whiteboard in the War Room is going to be filled with the exact game plan for how we’re going to achieve those goals in their business.

As I wrote this email, I thought this would be good to share.

So with my client’s permission, I thought…why not share what I sent to him about dominating 2026.

Hopefully you can take $100K worth of gold nuggets and install them in your business.

Here’s what I sent:

We’re meeting on Wednesday, and I want to make sure we hit the ground running.

Since you’ve been with me, we’ve made sure to rack up as many points in the win column as possible.

It’s been nothing short of amazing seeing you and your business grow, but that’s now in the past.

The wins you collected last year don’t matter anymore.

The mistakes you made last year don’t matter anymore.

What matters right now is what you’re gonna do in 2026.

So the question we must keep asking ourselves is…

How can I make 2026 my most profitable year yet?

Think hard and deep about this before Wednesday.

Here are a few things to spark some creative profit-creating ideas:

  • Raise your prices
  • Automate your follow-up with emails or text messages
  • Leverage your personal brand even further
  • Fix your customer retention
  • Create a high ticket program so you’re no longer trading time for money
  • Document your SOPs
  • Find the gap competitors are ignoring
  • Identify your biggest bottleneck – leads, conversions, or operations?

I could go on and on, and I’m confident you’re more than capable of figuring out one or two needle movers to make 2026 a year to remember.

Here’s one profit-lever I focus on every year.

Expanding my network.

Your network is your net worth.

I’ll preach this until the day I die.

Your network is the BIGGEST leverage point to skyrocketing the level of income you bring in.

This is why I go out of my way to build relationships with amazing people – entrepreneurs, investors, operators who are crushing it in their industries.

I know you already have some of killers in your rolodex since I’ve made introductions, but it’s something to think about adding more individuals in 2026.

Each relationship I’ve made has skyrocketed the quality of my life in one way or another. And I made it my top priority to do the same for them too.

PLUG UP YOUR BACK DOOR

Every entrepreneur makes mistakes.

I’ve made plenty over the years.

THE GOVERNMENT WON’T TALK ABOUT THIS

Here’s what’s interesting about politics.

When one side is in power, they’ll tell you everything is great. The economy’s booming, jobs are up, and America’s winning.

The other side? They’ll scream about how everything’s falling apart. It’s doom and gloom about the recession coming, unemployment is up, and the American dream is over.

Then their guy swaps seats in the Oval Office, and suddenly they reverse their talking points.

Regardless of which side you’re on, there’s something you’re experiencing right now in your business…
